Playworker Job Description
We are currently seeking a self-employed playworker to work with young people with Aspergers and/or ADHD. We are a charity based in Buckfastleigh, who meet every Wednesday for 2.5hrs between 4.15-6.45 during term-time. The group caters for children from 5-18 years.
The successful candidate will need experience as follows;
- To organise, deliver and run activities for a group of young people ages 5+ with ASD and ADHD. The role requires you to provide safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities whilst appreciating the impact of adult intervention on young people’s freedom to choose and create their own play environment.
- To assist in managing and accessing risk in the play and activities provided.
- The successful candidate will have some understanding of SEN, in particular ASD. Experience in a similar setting is advantageous. You will require an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in play work, working with children, youth related or a teaching discipline. You will need an up to date CRB/DBS or be willing to have one. Knowledge of safeguarding is essential. Due to the remote location of our facility a car driver is considered necessary.
